Former Woodfire Building To Get Facelift

Shuttered restaurant site will be rebuilt on existing foundation as Lake Cook Road Construction ends.

With the Lake Cook Road construction project over, one of the buildings affected by the work is asking the Village to approve a facelift, according to Deputy Village Planner Kathy LeVeque.

The property at 360-380 Lake Cook Road owned by highly regarded Chicago beautician Charles Ifergan, which houses one of his four Chicago area salons and was the home of Woodfire Restaurant hopes to beautify the building itself.

Ifergan’s shop and dry cleaners will get some work while the former Woodfire location will be demolished and rebuilt on its existing foundation, according to information provided to the Village by Warren Johnson Architects, Inc.

“It will have a seamless look,” LeVeque said of the property when done. The Deerfield Plan Commission gave it a unanimous recommendation Sept. 26. The Village Board of Trustees will first consider the proposal Oct. 21.

Ifergan felt the time was right to improve the property after Woodfire closed in April of last year. The end of construction was a factor. “Absolutely,” he said. “Any business that went in there during the construction would have had a hard time.
