Jim Beam Goes Single Barrel

Deerfield based distiller offers single barrel bourbon despite 200-year double-barrel tradition.

After more than 200 years of making bourbon in multiple barrels, Deerfield based Jim Beam will offer a single barrel bourbon to help capture the upscale market, according to a story in Crain’s Chicago Business.

"We understand there is a growing demand for premium bourbon options," Dan Cohen, a spokesman for Beam Inc.'s bourbon brands, said in the Crain’s story. "We feel the time is right to utilize this process for a single-barrel Jim Beam." The new product is due on the market in March.
