Men’s Clothing Store Coming to Deerfield

Yoga studio will also open in Deerfield Square in uptick of retail leasing.

Robert Vance, Ltd., an upscale men’s clothing retailer for 40 years, will open its doors in Deerfield Square in September, according to Chris Siavelis, the senior vice president of CRM Properties Group, Ltd., the operator of the shopping center.

Robert Vance is not the only new business coming to Deerfield. CorePower Yoga will be opening a location on Robert York Avenue in some of the space formerly occupied by Starland Creative Center, according to Siavelis.

Before CorePower can open, the Village Board of Trustees goes along with recommendations of the Plan Commission and the Village Center Redevelopment Commission for a special use permit, according to Siavelis. The Board approved the reports of the commissions Monday.

Retail growth is increasing in Deerfield Square, according to Siavelis, though the shopping center has a tradition of outperforming the market.

“We’ve never experienced market vacancy rates in the history of Deerfield Square,” Siavelis said. “We are seeing an increase in retail leasing, not as much as in the city. There is still lag in the suburbs. Retail follows the rooftops.

When Robert Vance opens in Deerfield, it will be a men’s only store, eliminating its line of women’s clothing, according to a report in the Lincolnshire Review. There will be changes from the current Lincolnshire location, which is closing to make way for the Deerfield spot.

“We’re going to reinvent ourselves after 40 years,” Jack Shniderman, owner of Robert Vance, Ltd., said in the Review story. He plans to have what he terms a “younger” product line.
