New Business Coming to Highland Park

Former In the Raw space leased. Name of new tenant will be revealed soon.

A new business will be coming to Highland Park as soon as the space once occupied by In the Raw restaurant at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Central Avenue becomes ready for the new tenant.

The building’s landlord, Beata Vaynberg, confirmed a lease has been signed. She is not able to disclose the name of the new tenant at this time but anyone occupying that space must be a retailer, restaurant or some other sales tax producing entity, according to Deputy Highland Park
City Manager Ghida Neukirch.

In the Raw closed suddenly in October with promises of reopening soon but that never happened and a for rent sign went in the window in November. The sign was removed recently and workers were removing fixtures from the premises Monday.

After getting into financial difficulty, In the Raw made a deal with Marcus Lemonis of Lake Forest, the star for the CNBC reality show “The Profit.” Lemonis invested money in the restaurant paying some of its bills but later filed suit when owners Beth and Mark Taussig did not follow through.

Patch will publish the name and nature of the new business as soon as it is known.
