Seta Salon Arrives in Downtown Deerfield

Central Deerfield's newest business is not so new.

Downtown Deerfield’s newest business is not so new to the community.

Seta Salon, a Deerfield beauty fixture for a long time, opened for business at 655 Deerfield Road April 30 after years operating at Deerbrook Mall.

“It’s been wonderful here,” Seta Babikian, the co owner with her husband, Chuck Babikian, said. “We’ve gotten a great response from the Deerfield community. The area here is cozier. I like being in town with all the people.”

Seta Salon has brought all 10 of its hairdressers and five manicurists from the original location. In the four weeks since the doors were open, a lot of familiar faces have walked through the door. “They’ve all come along,” Seta Babikian said of the existing customers. “We’ve had many new ones.”

The business is nothing new for the Babikians. Seta went to work for the original owner and eventually she and her husband bought the shop. “We’ve added our own touches (over the years),” Chuck Babikian said.

Before the Babikians could open their new shop they needed a special use permit from the Village. They were also happy with the help of municipal officials. “We’re grateful to Mayor (Harriet) Rosenthal and the Trustees,” Seta Babikian said.
