Small Business Saturday Starts on Black Friday

Some Deerfield merchants may be saving their best for Saturday, but some will have Black Friday offerings.

Deerfield shoppers wanting a Thanksgiving start to Black Friday had to leave the Village but anyone who wants an early beginning to Small Business Saturday can start today in Deerfield Square.

Some merchants like Avenue Fashions are saving their best for Saturday and Sunday but others like B Friends, Footloose and Just Between Friends will start their holiday offerings when they open their doors today.

Both Just Between Friends and Footloose will be offering 20 percent off much of their merchandise over the weekend. At Footloose, all footwear will be 20 percent off all items except Ugg’s, according to owner Larry Rosen.

“Military boots are very big this year and we have a very large assortment,” Rosen said. “In our clothing, purples and coral are very popular.” He also said business has improved over the last year.

Avenue Fashions, which is usually closed on Sundays, will be offering its annual holiday party to customers from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in a two-day celebration of Small Business Saturday.

In addition to refreshments, owner Sandy Panuce and her staff will be offering 40 to 50 percent off selected items. The party is a special time for Panuce.

“I want to have fun and I want our customers to have fun,” Panuce said. “We came to Deerfield two years ago and found energy. It’s been fun and we want everyone to have fun.”

Not only will B Friends be offering 25 percent off everything in the store for starting today, the shop will be featuring the impression collection it rolled out earlier this week, according to owner Marci Much.

“You can design your own T-shirts, sweat shirts, bags and blankets,” Much said. “It’s cool for the kids. The prices start at $4 (for gloves) and top out at $36 for some sweatshirts. We have $10 T’s.”

Customers use an Ipad to choose their design and then pick out the color of clothing or accessory they prefer.
