More than 590 employees at Deerfield headquarters run 5K race and participate in field games as company makes a $100 donation for each one.

More than 590 employees of Deerfield based Takeda Pharmaceuticals ran a 5K race and participated in field games Friday as part of Takeda Cares Day raising more than $59,000 for three Chicago area organizations, according to news release posted on Patch.

The company donated $100 for each employee who took part with the money going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, Chicago Family Health Center and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Lake County.

“Takeda Cares Day is a day to showcase our philanthropic spirit and celebrate our employees – many of whom have limited time due to work and family obligations—giving them a meaningful and fun way to contribute to building a stronger and healthier community without leaving the Deerfield campus,” Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc., President Doug Cole said.
