Walgreens to Decide on Possible HQ Move in Next Few Weeks

The CEO has acknowledged that the company is considering moving from Deerfield to Europe, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

Walgreens’ CEO has acknowledged that the Deerfield-based company is considering moving to Europe in order to take advantage of a more favorable tax environment, according to an article in Crain’s Chicago Business.

CEO Greg Wasson told the Wall Street Journal that Walgreens will make a decision on a possible move in the next few weeks, the article says.

Last month, when Crain’s reported that the company was considering moving its headquarters downtown, the Village of Deerfield said the company had assured them that it was not “engaged with developers on any new locations for their corporate headquarters.”
