I vote to move #6 to #1 - this Wang sure does continue to lament. No joke: i saw my favorite Woodfire employee (owner's cousin) at mall on monday and said, "Yo, what happened? Miss you guys." He claims the salon owner forced them out; that he wanted the space for expansion. But of course there are 3 sides to every story, right mom? Happy new year from wang's house to yours!

Explain the Carson's sign?

Deerfield has a very restrictive sign ordinance and newly opened Rosebud but up a sign that did not conform to Village rules. If I recall correctly, one violation was it described a food type and that's a no no. They also erected it without going through the lenghty approval process. The Board and Committee welded their power and came down pretty heavily as a welcome to Deerfield for a our new business neighbor. Heavy hitters like Walgreens got away with violations for years.

An unprofessional, business unfriendly, and vindictive reaction to a situation which should have been rectified in private.
Meanwhile, Woodfire (#6) closed last summer. The gutted sign stanchion remains, an eyesore, a sign of blight, right there on Lake Cook Road. In pathetic Deerbrook, we still have to be reminded of Wonder! ("There's nothing worse than an empty big box store" - B Forrest) and General Cinema (which went out of business .... when? This is what we have. This hypocritical standard and selective enforcement and embarrassment.

Mr. Sadin. You would be performing a service if you would post side-by-side photographs of the Carson's, Rosebud, and Woodfire signs.

Good point. Could this Village have so much control about putting signs up and no control about taking them down when the business closes? I Wonder!

There is nothing historical about this house. The historical house was torn down in order to buildRead More a modern house which vaguely resembles the home that was owned by Lyman Wilmot. But calling this new construction "an important part of the history of Deerfield" is a travesty.

Mara, So sorry you feel this way. We feel that this really improves the neighborhood. Tried toRead More keep much of old structure, but Igor's rehab and lack of upkeep, made it impossible. couldn't even keep floors, all warped from water and walls full of mold. City did nothing to stop Igor from combining two distinct properties. I am having a champagne lunch Wed. June 19, 11:30 to 1:30. Would love for you to come and see the house. Maybe that will change your mind. Annette Kalcheim

Annette - my first statement was "beautiful house" so I have no qualms with your outcome -Read More however, this is a re-do, re-creation not the original house. But good luck! I am sure you will find a buyer quickly!
