Zengeler Cleaners Announces Relocation Of Northbrook Store

New location fits seamlessly into fabric of local community

Deerfield, IL, May 14, 2014:  Zengeler Cleaners, the Midwest’s oldest and largest dry cleaner, recently announced that it will relocate the company’s headquarters location in Northbrook, IL.  The store is moving to 770 Skokie Boulevard, just around the corner from the current location on Dundee Road.  The new state-of-the art, environmentally friendly facility is scheduled to open in 2015, after the development project received approval of the Northbrook Village Board earlier this week.

“Zengeler Cleaners is very excited about the relocation of our Northbrook store,” said Tom Zengeler, President.  This move will benefit all the stakeholders – our customers, the Village of Northbrook and Zengeler Cleaners.  The new store will feature state of the processing that will automate and expedite order processing, which our customers will love.  The new store will also feature architecture and infrastructure consistent with the evolving character of the Northbrook community.  And, Zengeler Cleaners will benefit from a modern, efficient operation that will be more cost-effective to operate.  It’s a ‘win” for everyone!”

The 770 Skokie project is a mixed-use development featuring a variety of popular stores.  In addition to Zengeler Cleaners, the development will feature a 71,320 square-foot Mariano’s grocery store as the anchor property.  Other tenants identified so far include Verizon, PNC Bank, Chipotle and Panera Bread.  The 770 Skokie project is led by Morningside Group, a real-estate firm with offices in Chicago and Ann Arbor, MI.  Morningside Group specializes in mixed-use developments and multi-family dwellings.

According to Tom Zengeler, the transition to the new store is another step forward for the historic company.  Zengeler Cleaners was founded by John Zengeler in 1857 and has been owned and operated by the Zengeler family for all 157 years its been in business.  The new Northbrook location is expected to open sometime in 2015.  “The exact timing for projects of this scope are dependent on a variety of factors, not the least of which is weather,” Zengeler noted.
