Chris Kennedy: Why this matters

The Trib article shines the spotlight on the very issue that has served as a center point of this campaign and this IS an issue of concern that I am glad is getting a fresh burst of pre-election discussion.
Throughout the campaign, I have been meeting with law enforcement, the legal community, victims, victims' rights advocates, civil rights leaders, the faith community and all community members that this effects--sharing perspectives to address the most common causes of wrongful convictions. As candidate for Lake County State's Attorney, I am committed to justice and bringing change to the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, including ensuring wrongful convictions never happen. Yes, we need change in the Lake County States Attorney's Office. The current regime has served the county with nothing less than incompetence and are literally a disgrace. This has been true for the past 32 years, for which the current State's Attorney has been in power.
In that 32 years Mike Nerheim returned five (5) times to intern for the current States Attorney then work 7 years as an attorney. Mike Nerheim is one of the insiders that has created the current reality in this county. Since 1992 the current State's Attorney office where Mike Nerheim learned to be an attorney has given us: 1. Juan Rivera, WRONGFUL convicted in 1992 of rape and murder. 2. Jerry Hobbs, arrested and held without bond in 2005 for the slaying of his daughter and friend, while Hobbs was being railroading by the current State's Attorney the real offender was in Virginia and D.C. committing a string of violent attacks on other women. 3. James Edwards, WRONGFULLY convicted in 1994 of beating to death a Waukegan resident EVEN AFTER THE DNA EVIDENCE DID NOT MATCH. It took a Illinois Supreme County order in 2010 correct this wrong. That Mike Nerheim feels he can campaign for justice is ridiculous, he has been and still is part of the deep seated corruption within the Lake County State's Attorney's office. While I do not understand why the State's Attorney is a partisan position after 32 disgraceful years with a Republican in office it's time to elect change with Chris Kennedy.

Great job, Mike. Can't think of what to write about - then wait until Chris posts and then grab his ideas and go with it. I like too how you put a post by you 2 days after Chris siting this article. Once again, you are a day late and a dollar short. I prefer the real thing with the ideas - not someone who had to hook on to his opponents ideas.. Thank you Chris for your foresight and independent thinking.

Kennedy is the most forward thing candidate for Lake County State's Attorney. His opponent only follows up with a Kennedy plan or response. His plans are watered down versions.
If the Sate's Attorney were not partisan and there was an even financial field, Chris would win hands down. But that is not the case in this election. However, the best Candidate will win and that will be Chris Kennedy. Kennedy will bring integrity back to the Office. He is not part of the entrenched party. He will not owe the Party anything. Chris is an Independent thinker. He appeals to those who can think for themselves. We can't afford another lifetime politician in the office. Just like Waller, the Kennedy opponent will stay entrenched and in the Office.

And what about the jurors that convicted him based on that fact?
Please, also enlighten me: How specifically did Mike have anything to do with the handling of this DNA evidence? Your comment is completely irresponsible Marie. Would you like it if someone linked you to a crime your neighbor committed because you lived on the same block as them? Because that's essentially what you are doing is slandering someone on here without a shred of proof they had anything to do with what you list above when you speak about Mike. Please, Marie, share SPECIFIC proof to us that Mike had ANYTHING directly or even indirectly to do with these wrongful convictions. I will be waiting for your specific reply since you are telling people this is the case.

I find it disturbing that Grayslake Patch has the Democratic candidate's blog/story posted on it's site, but chose not to post the Republican's side of things, which is CURRENTLY posted on the Deerfield Patch site:

How hard would it have been to post both sides of the story? It didn't stop the editors from other sites from posting Mike's side of things. I do believe that Mike's article is right under Chris's. He wrote the exact same thing. And Chris didn't even have to tag on to his opponents article.

I'm on the site right now, and was yesterday, and Mike's article is not posted on the site at the same time, nor has it been. This, depite Mike's article not being released until several days AFTER Kennedy's. And it's STILL not posted on this site.
That is a clearcut bias. And sorry Stuart, if you can't see how biased it is that someone posts one candidate's article but not the other on the website they edit for, then you too, are part of the problem.

And by the way, Kathy, perhaps the reason Mike posted a response after Kennedy's blog above is because he is well-aware some editors have chosen to post Kennedy's blog/column but not his.
Thanks again, Kathy for showing your complete lack of fairness and balance with your comment. So you're saying Mike isn't entitled to have and share his own opinion, or have a reply to anything Kennedy might say? Get a clue, lady.

Ummm, hate to break it to you Rand, but Mike had ideas posted in a story on this site ages before Chris did, but I am guessing you missed that column.
So tired of people's lies like yours. This is the first time Kennedy has posted ANYTHING on this site about any ideas he has, and Mike has every right to reply to them. It's like you're telling the guy he isn't entitled to his own opinion, which is the forceful way you liberals seem to operate....if someone has an opinion or a response, it's met with hate and anger instead of facts.

Agreed Doug. Kennedy's blogs stay front page for days/week and Nerheim's blogs stay for 24 hours. The bias is clear. No mountain from a molehill, just the facts.
Everyone knows the Patch is a liberal site and it all but encourages hateful speech from posters by allowing them to engage in conversation that is close to slanderous. We'll see in November how many people have been turned off to the liberal rantings from this site. People will vote for the person who is most capable along with having shown the most integrity throughout their campaign. Mike Nerheim will be (and should be) the next State Attorney.

It is always easy to label someone and thus hope to dismiss them. Liberal has no meaning in this discussion. The States attorney does not set "liberal" policy, it is to bring to justice those who are guilty.
IF this is a liberal site, why would you bother to read or to discuss it. Kennedy is the most forward thing candidate for Lake County State's Attorney. However, the best Candidate will win and that will be Chris Kennedy.

Rand, what you think has meaning in a discussion is irrelevant to me. What is relevant to me is watching Kennedy's supporters sink his campaign with their angered posts. Neither candidate needs to say anything at this point, you all are doing a fine job making this an easy election.
