Dold Addresses 10th District Constituents at AIPAC Conference on Iran

I had the opportunity to stress the importance of Congressional leadership and bipartisanship in strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship.

Today, I addressed Illinois’ 10thDistrict constituents at the AIPAC Conference in Washington, DC. I had the opportunity to stress the importance of Congressional leadership and bipartisanship in strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship and confronting the historic challenge of Iran’s nuclear program.

The Tenth District is proudly home to one of the most passionate and vocal pro-Israel communities in the nation, and it certainly showed this week at the AIPAC
Conference. Israel’s security is non-negotiable, and with the help of the many great pro-Israel advocates in the Tenth District I will continue to be a lead voice in Congress and work with my colleagues in both parties to ensure Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapons capability and that U.S.-Israeli security operations are enhanced.  In the critical upcoming days and weeks, we must continue our work so that the people of Israel know and trust that the United States will always be by Israel’s side and that we will continue to ratchet-up the pressure on this Iranian regime until their nuclear weapons program is affirmatively dismantled.

Three weeks ago, I delivered a speech on the House floor calling for the
United States to affirmatively oppose a policy designed to contain a nuclear
weapons capable Iran and I am one of the first cosponsors of H. Res. 568,
legislation which affirms that U.S. policy is to oppose any reliance on
containment of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.  One of my first
actions as a Member of Congress was to author and organize a letter by the
freshmen class to show their commitment to fully funding our security
assistance commitment to Israel, even in a tough budget climate.  I have
traveled to Israel in 2010 and 2011 to see firsthand the critical security
challenges that the United States and Israel currently face together in the
Middle East.
