Lawyer: Nutter’s Shooter Needs Psychiatric Evaluation
Attorney for, Benjamin Schenk, man police say pulled trigger, wants his client evaluated.
An attorney for Benjamin Schenk, one of the defendants in the Colin Nutter murder case, told a Lake County Criminal Court judge this week his client needs a psychiatric evaluation, according to a report on the Chicago Tribune.
Schenk, 20, of Highwood, is one of three persons charged with the June 3 slaying of Nutter, 20, of Highland Park, according to earlier reports on Patch. According to initial police reports, Schenk was in the back seat of Nutter’s car while the victim was in the driver’s seat when Schenk shot him in the back of the head.
The two other defendants, Daniel Vatamoniuc and Michael Coffee, both 17 of Highland Park, were in the car at the time, according to statements made at a news conference June 7 in Highwood as reported on Patch.
