Deerfield Youth Football Scrimmage

Deerfield Youth Football Programs work together to improve future Deerfield Warriors.

Deerfield's two youth football programs got together on a wet and gusty night for a scrimmage at Caruso Jr. High this past Wednesday night.

Teams comprised of fifth and sixth grade boys from the Deerfield Young Warriors and Holy Cross Chargers of Deerfield met under the lights, bringing a community together for the night.

The scrimage was an wonderful opportunity for the teams to practice and improve against real competition. The program's draw players mostly from the population of Deerfield so teams are relatively small in number.  The chance for players to line up against friends and neighbors where there was no official winner or loser is what youth football is all about.

The coaches from both teams were grateful to bring the boys together and plan on working together in the future. The coaches hope any interaction between the programs will ultimately benefit the Deerfield High School Warriors Football team in the years ahead.

The weather was a little rough for the forty parents who came out to watch their sons.  The players on the other hand couldn't have been happier with the wet and muddy field. Everyone left the night with a smile on their faces and a little dirt in their cars.
