AAUW Presents Awards

 

Three outstanding young women, recent graduates of local high schools, have received monetary awards from the Deerfield Area Branch of the American Association of University Women.  They were chosen by their schools on the basis of their academic performance and volunteer activities.

Amy Yi of Deerfield High School will attend Northwestern University, where she plans a course of study in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, math).

Hyojung (Jullie) Han plans to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she will major in psychology.  At Highland Park High School she was active in HP^3 (a club involving students from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds).  She participated in track and field, and was the recipient of several other scholarship awards.

 

Christine Zhao of Adlai Stevenson High School plans to attend Duke University to study biomedical engineering.  She is a National Merit finalist, a national AP Scholar and an Illinois State Scholar.  She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
