DFDC Summer Camp Having Fun While Working Hard in the Dark!

Team BILLOY Wins Inaugural DFDC Summer Camp Flashlight Relay

ON Wed July 9th the DFDC and DFDG gathered for the 1st annual Flashlight Relay on the Back 40 Slough.  There were 16 Goal Oriented Motivated runners and Alumni that showed up at 8:30 pm at the circle to get some great extra training on and also have some fun.   The flashlight relay featured 4 teams comprised of 3 boys and 1 girl that gave it their all.  The relay was a 1.2 mile course in PITCH BLACK Darkness in which each runner runs all out using the flashlight to guide them and then passes the flashlight (baton) to the #2,#3, and #4 runners respectively to complete the race.  One runner commented how fun and “beautiful” it was as she said the “fireflies lit the way the whole time!”

The race was exciting as it came down to literally a 400m kick between Teams “Billoy” and Team “Class Relay” as Henry Umlauf outkicked Michael Hincker (with a huge leg to get back into the race and make up a big deficit on the anchor leg) for the win by 2 secs!
