Frosh/Soph 41 Warriors Push at
Barrington Bronco Invitational
On Tuesday May 6th the F/S 41 Warriors traveled to Barrington HS to compete in the Bronco Invite. This meet is nicknamed “F/S Sectionals” because of the talent that is there and year in and year out. Simply put athletes that do well in this meet become State Qualifiers as Juniors and Seniors and has produced MANY ALL State medalists over the years. It is the best level of talent our program sees all year every year and it really shows the athletes what they need to do if they want to compete with the best in the high school careers. It’s no coincidence that the year we won this meet in 2010 that team won a Sectional in 2011, placed 5th in State in 2011, and also won Back to Back Varsity CSL titles in 2012 and 2013. Yesterday was no exception as it was another talented group of F/S athletes in a meet I have seen in my 18 years coaching and Deerfield hung in there very very well in their performances and most importantly their competitive character. All 41 Warriors attacked this meet and had a ton of fun while doing it! The team finished a much improved over last year with a solid 4th place out of the deep 8 team field with 108pts ahead of Cary Grove’s 105, Jacobs 100, Lake Zurich’s 87, and Conant’s 48pts respectively. Barrington won the meet for the 2nd year in a row with a dominating 232pts, followed by McHenry’s 179pts, and in 3rd was Stevenson with 174pts.

All in all a very nice showing by the boys.
Special mention goes to Hank Flury as he tied the Meet record in HJ with a jump of 5’10”. He JUST skimmed the bar 3 times in arrow at 6’1”. Congrats Hank!
