Warrior Soccer Team Dominates in Playoff Opener
The Warrior soccer team posted an 8-0 regional semi-final win over the Senn Bulldogs from Chicago. Ashley Imyak got the goal parade started when she curled a corner kick directly into the goal in the 11th minute. Imyak added a second when she converted a penalty kick four minutes later. In the 20th minute, Sydney Barber played a beautiful drop pass for Kaehle Crockford, who blasted her first varsity goal just under the crossbar. Annie Sloan made it 4-0 after she took a pass from Barber at the top of the penalty area and ripped a shot that the keeper could not save. The Warriors closed out the scoring on a beautiful passing sequence with two minutes left in the half. Haley Greer played a ball to Enya Horgan, who executed a give and go with Logan Just. Horgan’s cross was directed in by a powerful Emily Kellow header at the back post to make it 5-0 at halftime. Four minutes into the second half, Imyak’s precise pass between two defenders released Barber on a breakaway, and the freshman made no mistake to make it 6-0. Just intercepted a goal kick and fed Barber for another goal with less than eight minutes gone in the second half. Sarah Neal closed out the scoring when she stepped into a Horgan cross and beat the keeper low to the far post. Sam Soloway and Sari Eisen shared the shutout.
