Get Shakin with the Deerfield Park Foundation

Deerfield Park Foundation (DPF) invites everyone to “Get Shakin’” and to create and submit drawings for our “Shake Week” contest with Tom and Eddies. There is no fee to enter and no purchase of any kind required. Our Park Foundation’s 2nd Annual “Shake Week” activities focus on submission of 8x10 drawings with a theme of “Shake” Art for the Parks. Entrants for this contest should use their imagination to draw a picture that reflects both Parks and Milk Shakes.

Between May 1 and May 15, “artists” of all ages and abilities may submit one 8”x10” (vertical or horizontal) JPEG-format drawing and email/attach the file with name and phone number to photos@deerfieldparks.org. Entrants needing help with scanning to submit their entries should email chris@dfpd.org or Darla@dfpd.org or call 847-945-0650. Drawings must be created on 8”x10” paper that can be scanned.

Each drawing entry will be assigned a number and posted on our gallery by number for viewing and voting. Vote, and get friends/family to vote between May 16 - 23, at: www.facebook.com/deerfieldparks. If you don’t have an
account and would like to vote, you may email darla@dfpd.org with your name, phone # and drawing number for which you wish to place your vote. Only one (1) vote per Facebook account/email address. Winning drawings, based on total number of votes, will be posted on our website and receive publicity/recognition as possible. 1st Place, 2nd Place and 3rd Place winners will also receive a Gift Card, courtesy of Tom and Eddies.

All qualifying drawing entries will be displayed at Tom and Eddies, 740 N. Waukegan Road (next to Whole Foods Market Deerfield in Deerfield Square) in Deerfield, between May 28 and June 3. On Wednesday, June 3 at approximately 7:00 p.m. winners of Deerfield Park Foundation’s “Shake” Art for the Parks activity will be recognized.

“Shake Week,” May 28 through June 3, is also the time period that winning Shake Recipes, submitted by students of Deerfield District 109’s schools through the Deerfield Education Foundation (DEF), will be determined. The exciting June 3 Awards Night will not only include announcement of the Park Foundation’s Drawing contest winners, but will also feature the announcement of the school with the Shake Recipe receiving the most votes. Tom and Eddie’s will donate 10% of net proceeds from all sales at Tom and Eddie’s, Deerfield, from 4-8pm during “Shake Week” (May 28-June 3), as well as a portion of net sales of all milkshakes during the rest of June, to DEF and DPF. DEF, DPF/Deerfield Park District and Tom & Eddies reserve the right to exclude submissions at their discretion. Materials submitted will not be returned and may be used by DEF, DPF, Deerfield Park District or Tom & Eddies for publicity purposes. Deerfield Park Foundation and Deerfield Education Foundation benefit equally from donations made by Tom & Eddie’s.
