“I Dwell in Possibility” a one-woman performance and luncheon at Patty Turner Center

“I Dwell in Possibility,” a one-woman performance by Betsey Means brings one of America’s greatest woman poets Emily Dickinson to life. The dramatization of Dickinson and insight into her world and works takes place on Tuesday, May 14 at the Patty Turner Center, 375 Elm Street in Deerfield. A Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. precedes the performance which is set for 1:15 p.m. The Emily Dickinson portrayal by Means and luncheon prepared by Chef Jennifer Noone are presented by the PTC Women’s Club as part of their Lecture and Luncheon sessions. Guests are welcome.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) was born in Amherst, Massachusetts to a successful family with strong community ties. Thought of as an eccentric by the Locals, Dickinson became known for her penchant for wearing white clothing and her reluctance to greet guests –and later in life, even to leave her room. Most of her friendships were carried out by correspondence. She was a prolific private poet. Her poems questioned the nature of immortality and death. Through nature and life, Emily was able to glimpse into a mystic dimension beyond worldly distractions. She is one of the most loved American woman poets.
