Following the Jewett Park ceremony, the Deerfield High School Marching Band will lead a parade of  Boy, Girl, and Cub Scout troops to the Deerfield Cemetery on Waukegan Road for graveside memorials.

At that time the names of the military fallen will be read and a rifle salute with echo taps will be played. War dead buried in the Deerfield Cemetery date back to the Civil War.

Over the Memorial Day weekend both Legionnaires and Auxiliary members will be downtown selling red paper poppies made by some of the disabled military now being cared for at the Lovell Federal Health Care hospital in North Chicago. All poppy proceeds go to provide services to disabled veterans.
