Police continue to search for suspect.

Authorities are on the search for a man who allegedly broke into a home on the 1100 block of Elmwood Avenue in Deerfield around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

The suspect is being described as a white male, 35 years old, with dark hair. He was apparently wearing a light blue dress shirt and khaki pants at the time of the incident.

Officers from at least nine other police departments were called in to help with the neighborhood search including the Cook County Sheriff’s helicopter.

"We had to take this seriously," Deerfield Police Deputy Chief Tom Keane said. "We're looking for a suspect that fled out the door that could be hiding in the neighborhood." Police setup a perimeter and searched the community for several hours.

Additional officers were requested through the assistance of an Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm (ILEAS), which is similar to when a fire department calls in mutual aid from surrounding communities to battle a blaze.

Officials say there are no suspects in custody at this time and they believe the offender has fled the area.
