Media Take Aim at DHS Teacher's Documentary

"Mashed Media" viewing at Northwestern spurs conversation about Chicago market.

Highland Park resident and teacher Brett Schwartz’s new documentary will be on display Tuesday night at Northwestern.

The university is holding a screening and discussion of Mashed Media, a piece that takes a look at Chicago's journalism industry and its future.

Patch sat down with Schwartz after his work first aired on PBS. to read more about the documentary.

A number of Chicago’s leading media innovators have signed on to take part in the discussion, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on Evanston’s campus.  

“Mashed Media really captures a moment in Chicago media history, as the Tribune struggled through business challenges and digital insurgents challenged the dominance of traditional media," said Medill Professor Rich Gordon, who is organizing the July 12 event.
