This Week's "Best Of" Deerfield Results

Checkout some of your neighbor's favorites.

All week Patch was on the search for Deerfield's best. And thanks to you, we received dozens of suggestions, emails, photos and comments in return. Our goal was to get the community talking about some of their favorites on our Facebook page. If you're not a Deerfield Patch Facebook fan yet, click here to become one. But now, it's time for the results.

Monday: Cutest Pet.

Our first question was easy. Who has the cutest pet? 27 community members responded with adorable photos. To take a look at those photos click here. There are also a slew of pictures on our Facebook page. While we loved all your submissions, Sarah's sleeping puppy was one of the favorites. And since pets was this week's most popular category, the pup is being featured in the article to the right (What an adorable sleeping beauty!). Again, thanks to everyone for submitting their pictures. Deerfield has some great looking pets!

Tuesday: Talented Hairdresser

When it comes to hair, Deerfield residents aren't shy about naming their favorites. Here's a list of recommendations we received:

"Kristine http://www.facebook.com/pages/Salon-Vole/58326219998," was Johnna Purcell's suggestion on our Facebook page.

"Jacqi Shear at Taylor Reese in Highland Park is AMAZING! She's been doing my hair for 12 years and I get compliments every time," Linda Bialecki Just wrote in.

"Woody Howard at Carolyn Lorraine in Northbrook. He's fantastic and has been in the business for years. He has been doing my color and styling for 16 years and I wouldn't trust my hair with anyone else," Anne Ross Stone commented.

"Lilliana at Charles Ifergan is amazing for color!! She has the best taste and will make you look fab," was Jackie Pilossoph's suggestion.

"Maria Muzik at Salon Vole in downtown Highland Park. She is my mom and she is the best hairdresser that I know. She has been a hairdresser for over 20 years, she treats all of her clients like they are her best friends, she has been doing my hair my entire life and always makes me look like a million bucks," Nina Muzik wrote in.

Wednesday: Unique Business Website

It was a trickier category but we still received several responses. They're listed below. Click on the links to see what these business websites have to offer:

Thursday: Unbelievable Cobb Salad

Even though this was my favorite category, residents weren't as quick to comment. But thank's to Jackie Pilossoph I've got at least five places to try.

"I am a HUGE cobb salad fan as well! What's the difference between a cobb salad and a chopped salad, though? I view them as the same and here are my top five on the Northshore:

1. Dipascara 2. Francesca's North 3. Potbelly's 4.Wildfire 5. Cooper's Hawk," she wrote on Deerfield Patch's Facebook page.

I also got this suggestion emailed to me late Friday night by another Deerfield resident! Just in time for Saturday's results. "Cafe Central in HP has the best Cobb salad. Fresh everything and great, crisp lettuce."

Friday: Cool Swimming Pool

So, I guess no one in Deerfield has a cool swimming pool. Are there any hot ones out there? Ok, bad joke, I know, just trying to stir up a little conversation!

We only got one response in this category, but it was a great one! "I took my kids to the Highland Park water park this summer for the first time and they went crazy!! Cool slides and great snack bar!"

Have any other suggestions, pictures or tips you'd like to submit? Feel free to post your comments below or head to our Facebook page (don't forget to like us there).

A special thanks to all those who made this week's "Best Of" series so much fun!

What a stupid article. Two out of the best things in Deerfield are in HIghland Park and who knows where those websites originate. Stupid article, as a resident of Deerfield for 54 years I can easily read that you don't know anything about Deerfield!

Thanks for the www.mattaboutbusiness.com mention!

Hey Mark, the point of the article wasn't what I know but based on other community members suggestions. These were all the responses I got. I wish long time residents like you would have written in with their ideas but many like you didn't. Feel free to comment below and I'd be happy to add them but I'd still like to thank all those that did participate.

There is nothing historical about this house. The historical house was torn down in order to buildRead More a modern house which vaguely resembles the home that was owned by Lyman Wilmot. But calling this new construction "an important part of the history of Deerfield" is a travesty.

Mara, So sorry you feel this way. We feel that this really improves the neighborhood. Tried toRead More keep much of old structure, but Igor's rehab and lack of upkeep, made it impossible. couldn't even keep floors, all warped from water and walls full of mold. City did nothing to stop Igor from combining two distinct properties. I am having a champagne lunch Wed. June 19, 11:30 to 1:30. Would love for you to come and see the house. Maybe that will change your mind. Annette Kalcheim

Annette - my first statement was "beautiful house" so I have no qualms with your outcome -Read More however, this is a re-do, re-creation not the original house. But good luck! I am sure you will find a buyer quickly!
