Champagne Taste and a Beer Budget (NSSC Class)
Special tastes don't have to be outside the ordinary budget. In this digital presentation, Sara Drower will be looking at some of the most expensive foods in the world and discussing the history that makes them so expensive. The obvious ones - caviar, foie gras, and truffles - will be examined, and unusual and lesser known foods, such as the bird's nest and the shark's fin used in China to make soups, will also be covered. Other items appearing on the menu, such as matsutake mushrooms and Kobe beef from Japan, as well as some expensive coffees, teas, and wines will be part of the class too. After the presentation, taste some of the foods that taste expensive but won't break the bank.
