Comden and Green and their Two "Town" Triumphs (NSSC Lecture)
Writing partners Betty Comden and Adolph Green made a huge splash in their 1944 Broadway debut, On the Town. Eight years later they followed up with another smash hit about their native New York, Wonderful Town. Both shows boasted music by their great friend Leonard Bernstein. This presentation by Charles Troy will tell the story behind these two fabulous shows. Interestingly, the Marriott Theatre is about to produce "On the Town" beginning in August - and Marriott has discovered, astonishingly, that it is the first Chicago-area professional production ever for this famous wartime musical!
