Deerfield Public Library Book Discussion - WENCH by Dolen Perkins-Valdez

Set in the 1850's, the Tawawa House is a summer resort in Ohio that has become a favorite place for white slave owners to vacation with their black mistresses.  Lizzie, Reenie, and Sweet have been visiting Tawawa House for a number of years and have developed a friendship that has steadily grown.  One summer, a new woman, Mawa, arrives and stirs up the other women with dreams she has of escape and freedom from her master.  Copies of the book are available on the self-service holds shelf.  No registration necessary.
