JOY OF THE GAME ANNOUNCES FIRST EVER BILL CARTWRIGHT BIG-MAN AND GUARD CLASS

DEERFIELD, IL (JANUARY-FEBRUARY
2014) –
Joy of the Game (158 S.
Waukegan Rd. Deerfield) is proud to host the first ever Big-Man and Guard Class
with retired NBA player and former Chicago Bulls coach, Bill Cartwright. Held
in January and February 2014, these classes will be led by Bill Cartwright
himself, allowing players to get hands-on experience from a basketball legend! The
classes are open to boys and girls of all abilities from 3rd through
8th grade, and will touch on the fundamentals of guarding.



 



Bill Cartwright is a retired NBA player, with 16 seasons
under his belt playing for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, and Seattle
Supersonics. Cartwright helped the Bulls capture three consecutive championships
in 1991, 1992, and 1993, and also served as assistant coach under Phil Jackson
for some time. He played college basketball at the University of San Francisco,
and was a consensus second team all-American in 1977 and 1979. He also
graduated as the all-time leading scorer for the Dons, averaging 19.1 points
and 10.2 rebounds per game. Cartwright was the third overall pick in the 1979
draft selected by the New York Knicks.

The Big-Man and Guard Class will run in an 8-week session on
Mondays: January 6, 13, 20, & 27, February 3, 10, 17, & 24 and
Wednesdays: January 8, 15, 22, & 29, February 5, 12, 19, & 26. 3rd-5th
graders will have the court from 4:30-5:30pm, and 6th-8th
graders will have the court from 7-8pm.

To participate in the 8-week session on just one day, the
fee is $215, to participate in the 8-week session on both Mondays and
