On January 12, Pastor Brian Roots will discuss some of the various ways to understand Jesus when he said, "I am the way, the truth and the Life."  Many Christians believe that followers of other faiths are also able to connect with God.  How Christians simultaneously affirm our distinctive beliefs and embrace those who believe differently is a challenging but important topic.

On January 19 Christ United Methodist Church will welcome Muslim storyteller Arif Choudhury who will share his experience of growing up Muslim in Northbrook Illinois.  Arif's stories help us learn on a relational and emotional level.  When we understand that people of other faiths really are like us and that we can be friends, we learn a bit of the heart of God.

(Arif Choudhury is a professional storyteller and theater artist.  He tells humorous stories of growing up in one of the few Bangladeshi-Muslim immigrant families in Chicago.  Focusing on issues of ethnic and religious identity, assimilation, multiculturalism, and diversity, his stories poke fun at how we think of one another.  Arif also tours the country in "More Alike Than Not: Stories from Three Americans - Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim.")
