Parenting Teens and Preteens in an Age of Anxiety

“Parenting
Teens and Preteens in an Age of Anxiety”

The hidden secret in our community of abundance is anxiety. In an insecure
and competitive world, we often overindulge our kids materially and spoil them
emotionally in order to calm our own nerves and keep our kids on top. As they
get older and the problems get larger, we sometimes wonder if we’ve fallen into
a trap created out of our own good intentions. Our kids may possess a thick
layer of skills and be trained to compete and excel, but are they kind?
Sensitive? Empathic? Self reliant? How can we develop our own inner confidence
to take what’s valuable in our culture without being wholly consumed, and raise
teenagers who care?
