Wind Energy (NSSC Class)

Wind power has been an enticing renewable energy option. The downside of this option has, for the most part, been overlooked. Does it meet the criteria of reliability, efficiency, or economics as compared with other sources of energy? These issues will be discussed in light of recent improvements in other technologies. Comparisons will be made with other renewable schemes as well as with other competing energy forms. Some answers to the question of why wind may have a serious limitation will be examined as well as the attempts underway to improve efficiency of wind turbines that capture the wind.  David Hacker makes the presentation.
