Equal Pay Day Reminder

Members of the Deerfield Area AAUW will distribute PayDay candy bars at the Deerfield Metra Station and elsewhere to remind residents that women still fail to receive equal pay for equal work.  According to the Chicago Tribune, women are better-educated than their male counterparts, but earn only %75 as much.  Equal Pay Day represents the date upon which a woman's wages finally catch up to those of a man employed in a similar position for the previous year.  In other words, a woman must work more than three months longer than a man to receive equivalent wages.
