“As you walk during the event, be sure to check out the team fundraisers lining the track,” event chair Jenny Maltas said in a new release. “There will be a variety of items for sale or auction. Chicago Bulls player Joakim Noah has donated a signed jersey and official photo for a silent auction hosted by one of the teams. Come out to the event for your chance to bid on this special item.”

All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Highland Park/Deerfield.

At 10 p.m. Friday,  there will be a moving luminaria ceremony that honors all those who have passed away from cancer. The evening will feature photo booths, a Deerfield Dance Team Performance, a hypnotist, free massages and face painting, Kim Armstrong from “A Popular Dance”, Laughter Yoga with Debbie Friend and a midnight movie with popcorn.

Because cancer does not sleep, neither will the walkers. Closing ceremonies will take place at 5:30 AM Saturday where the top fundraisers will be announced. Participants can sign up at the event. For more information, please visit the event’s website.
