Deerfield Ready for Fourth of July Parade

After fireworks Wednesday, Deerfield's 50th Family Days will be in full swing today.

Deerfield’s 50th Family Days continues Thursday with a host of events aided by a variety of organizations before the Lions Club sponsored parade starts at noon at the Deerspring Pool, winds its way through downtown and finishes at Jewett Park.

The morning kicks off with arts and crafts sales around the Jewett Park grounds from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Two traditional events—the pancake breakfast and the 10K race—start at 8 a.m. The breakfast will be hosted by Rhapsody Café. Registration for the race and 5K walk begins at 7:15 a.m. and is sponsored by the Deerfield Rotary Club.

There will be a dog how at Jewett Park from 8:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. with all canine entrants welcome and prizes awarded. The bicycle parade will commence at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at the intersection of Rosemary and Deerfield Road.

Rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, corporate booths and concessions will be going on from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jewett Park while the annul flower show takes place at the same time at the Jewett Park Community Center.

Anyone who wants to cool off can take advantage of free swimming from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Deerspring and Mitchell Park pools.
