Dermatologist Joins Northwestern Medicine in Deerfield

Dermatologist James A. Ida, MD, MSPH, FAAD, has joined Northwestern Medicine at its Deerfield office located at 350 S. Waukegan Road.  Ida holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Dermatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

 

Board certified in dermatology, Ida received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and holds a master of science in public health from Harvard School of Public Health.  He completed an internship at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. Ida did training in dermatology at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami and completed his residency in dermatology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he was academic chief.

Prior to joining Northwestern Medicine, Ida was an associate dermatologist at Adams Street Dermatology in Quincy, Mass. and was a member of the medical staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton, Mass. Ida held a combined appointment as a volunteer member of the medical staff in the department of dermatology at the Veterans Administration in Jamaica Plain, Mass. and as volunteer clinical instructor in the Department of Dermatology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Previously Ida worked at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health where he coordinated the surveillance, investigation and control of vaccine-preventable diseases in the state, and designed and implemented the Massachusetts Influenza Surveillance System.  He has also served as a research assistant at Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Health.  He has published extensively on research related to dermatology and infectious diseases. Ida is fluent in Italian and German and speaks conversational Spanish and French.
