Deerfield Concert Series Welcomes Louise Mosrie & David Hawkins

The Stained Glass Coffeehouse will present singer songwriter Louise Mosrie in concert on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Congregational Church in Deerfield

The Stained Glass Coffeehouse will present singer songwriter Louise Mosrie in concert on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Congregational Church in Deerfield, 225 Wilmot Road. The concert begins at 7:00 pm.  Suggested donation is $15.00 Illinois singer/songwriter David Hawkins will perform an opening set.

Louise Mosrie’s  British parents emigrated to the U.S. in the 1960’s for work, finally settling on a farm on fifty acres in middle Tennessee. Born in Delaware and moving to the South as a child, Louise had trouble reconciling the two cultures around her - shunning all things Southern - disliking the accent, the food and the slow sleepy ways of doing things in her small rural town. She began writing pop/folk songs in her early 20s while living in Knoxville after college, producing two independent albums before moving to Nashville in 2004 to work on her song-craft. There, she made friends and contacts in the Americana and bluegrass side of Nashville,… her music combines Americana, bluegrass and folk melodies and stories in ways that are fresh and charming with a warm vocal delivery and tasteful musical arrangements.

Hello Mr. Death & Other Love Songs, is the new CD by Chicago singer/songwriter David Hawkins. The new release has been receiving national airplay and on several radio station choice lists for 2012.  Hawkins found Chicago by way of Detroit, Tulsa, and New Orleans, and he has picked up musical flavors wherever he has lived. His songs are tough and gentle, a powerful distillation of spirits.  They exist in a place where flesh and spirit meet and where one’s soul is on the line:  Songs of Love, Death, Loss, Redemption, and always the Divine.

David Hawkins has a wonderful sense of a beautiful melody, as well as a creative hook to his songwriting, which is present in Hello Mr. Death & Other Love Songs.
