Upcoming Events at the North Suburban YMCA

Fall Program Registration will open for members on August 10, non-members on August 17. The program guide can be viewed online now at www.nsymca.org. Be sure to check out all our new classes and activities! Sign up before August 24 to pay reduced early registration rates. Fall I classes begin September 3.

Everyone is invited to celebrate summer at the “Party at the Y!” on August 8 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Enjoy live music by Markette, inflatable bouncehouses, and loads of fun activities. Special extra-early registration opportunities and new member promotions! Learn about new and exciting fall programs at your Y, including the launch of Adventure Guides (see below). New for Fall: Adventure Guides at the NSYMCA! This outstanding program brings dads and children ages 5 through 9 together for social activities, campouts, and more. Self-directed circles choose their schedules and activities with coordination from Y staff. Circles are being organized in August. For more information, meet Adventure Guides Director Dan Bulf at the Party at the Y! on August 8, or contact him at 847 528 1538.

Exercise Connection, a leader in physical fitness training for individuals with special needs, will offer a three-week fitness course for adults with autism spectrum disorders at the North Suburban Y. Classes focus on core skills including body image, posture, motor coordination, muscular fitness and cardiovascular fitness. The program will be held August 1, 8 and 15.  Northbrook resident and Director in Training for the Exercise Connection, Laura Fine will lead the class.  All classes meet at 4:30 pm. Summer camp registration is filling up fast. The Y offers the widest range of day camp programs, with flexible schedules that work for every family. Transportation to afternoon camps from Northbrook summer schools is also available. Weekly camp registrations close at noon on the preceding Thursday and re-open on Monday at 9:45am. College students: Stay in shape and reach your goals with the Y’s reduced rate Student Personal Training Package. Purchase a minimum of four personal training sessions and pay just $37 per session – one-third off our regular training rates. Sessions must be paid for between June 1 and August 15, but can be used for up to a year. Must show college or high school senior ID to qualify. The Y is proud to offer professional massage services from Align Wellness Center. Appointments are available for 25 minute or 55 minute sessions in our comfortable Health Center, adjacent to our adult locker rooms. Sign up for appointments at the Y front desk. Do you have a child starting half-day kindergarten in the fall? Enrich their experience with the Y’s Kindergarten Club extension program! Kindergarten Club creates a fun, full-day experience to support your child’s social and academic development. Afternoon sessions are available, including transportation to/from public schools in Northbrook  as well as St. Norbert’s. Hot lunches, snacks, and even swim lessons are all included! Also, check out Y-Time, the NSYMCA’s afterschool program for grades K-5. Limited openings available in each program. Parents, please note: non-member guests under the age of 18 must have a signed waiver on file to use YMCA facilities. Please stop by the front desk for more information. Also, unattended children under age 10 are not permitted in the building.
