Upcoming Events at the North Suburban YMCA

NSYMCA summer program registration is now open to all!  Summer classes run from until August 18. To view the program guide and register online, visit www.nsymca.org.

Summer camp registration is filling up fast. The Y offers the widest range of day camp programs, with flexible schedules that work for every family. Transportation to afternoon camps from Northbrook summer schools is also available. Weekly camp registrations close at noon on the preceding Thursday and re-open on Monday at 9:45am. College students: Stay in shape and reach your goals with the Y’s reduced rate Student Personal Training Package. Purchase a minimum of four personal training sessions and pay just $37 per session – one-third off our regular training rates. Sessions must be paid for between June 1 and August 15, but can be used for up to a year. Must show college or high school senior ID to qualify. Exercise Connection, a leader in physical fitness training for individuals with special needs, will offer a three-week fitness course for adults with autism spectrum disorder at the North Suburban Y. Classes focus on core skills including body image, posture, motor coordination, muscular fitness and cardiovascular fitness. The program will be offered in two sessions: June 13, 20 and 27 and August 1, 8 and 15. All classes meet at 4:30 pm. Class size is limited and one-on-one aide support is available. The Y’s Community Gallery is pleased to feature the photography of Kiki Julcher as its June Local Artist Exhibit. Many photographs are available for purchase, with some proceeds benefiting the NSYMCA. For more information, visit www.nsymca.org.

On July 20, the Y will host “Moves Like Tori”, a family fundraiser for the Tori Wilensky Foundation in support of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood Programs. Enjoy music from Bizar Entertainment, clowns, bounce houses, auctions, dinner and more from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Tickets are $15/person; children two and under are free. The North Suburban Y will welcome Push America’s “Journey of Hope” bike team for a special visit on July 23, beginning at 4:30pm. The Journey of Hope team will ride 4,000 miles across the country in 2013 to raise awareness and funds for children with special needs. The July 23rd stopover at the Y will be an afternoon filled with fun and food, with activities including music, dancing, tattoos, facepainting, a BBQ and a Buddy Baseball game organized by the NSSRA. The Y is proud to offer professional massage services from Align Wellness Center. Appointments are available for 25 minute or 55 minute sessions in our comfortable Health Center, adjacent to our adult locker rooms. Sign up for appointments at the Y front desk. Do you have a child starting half-day kindergarten in the fall? Enrich their experience with the Y’s Kindergarten Club extension program! Kindergarten Club creates a fun, full-day experience to support your child’s social and academic development. Afternoon sessions are available, including transportation to/from public schools in Northbrook  as well as St. Norbert’s. Hot lunches, snacks, and even swim lessons are all included! Also, check out Y-Time, the NSYMCA’s afterschool program for grades K-5. Limited openings available in each program.
