Deerfield Obituary: Joseph Frederick Piersen, 74

He was on the board of the Deerfield Historical Society and, along with his wife, one of the founders of the Deerfield Recyclers Square Dance Club.

Joseph Frederick Piersen, 74, of Deerfield, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Evanston Hospital.

Joe was a graduate of Highland Park High School, served as the archives chairman for the Chicago and Northwestern Historical Society and was on the board of the Deerfield Historical Society. He and Marge were among the founders of the Deerfield Recyclers Square Dance Club.

Prior to retirement, Joe taught language arts at Wood Oaks Jr. High School in Northbrook.

Beloved husband of Margery Lee, nee Hendrick; loving father of Colleen Elizabeth Piersen (Russell Lowell McLaughlin) and Gail Ann Piersen (William John Adler); adoring grandfather of Scott Dillon, Craig Joseph and Amanda Kate McLaughlin, Jessica Lee, Anna Jo and Leah Autumn Adler; dear brother of Mary Lou (Joseph) Downey, David Piersen, and the late William Dillon (Charlotte Leigh Graham) Piersen; and fond brother-in-law of Robert Edward Hendrick.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in August. Interment private.
