Deerfield Obituary: Ronald Ernest Hahn, 74

The following obituary was submitted by Hahn's family:

Ronald Ernest Hahn, 74, at home with the Lord on May 30, 2014. Born to Julia and Harold Hahn in Chicago on April 13, 1940, Ron was adored by Bonita, his wife of 52 years, his three children and their spouses and his nine grandchildren.

Graduating from Lane Technical High School, Loyola University and John Marshall Law School, he focused on greater achievements. His joy was found in family and God. He served at the First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield for over forty years, as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder. A member of the United States Army, he also gave as a Scout Leader, tutor and camp counselor. He will always be remembered for the unconditional, never-ending love he showed to the family that loved him and his service to community.

He is preceded by his parents, and survived and missed by the love of his life, Bonnie. He is mourned by his children and their spouses: Stacey and Richard, Nicholas and Susie and Bradley and Christine. He is beloved by his grandchildren: Joseph, Nicholas, Matthew (Frank), Justin, Joshua, Julia, Grace, Lillian & Kate. He is survived by his dear siblings: Harold, Pamela (Roger) and Richard (Patricia), sister-in-law Hope (Gary) Thompson and his many nieces and nephews.

His legacy of love, intelligence, humor, kindness and generosity will never be forgotten by those that crossed his path. He will forever live in the many hearts he touched.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 26th at First Presbyterian Church of Deerfield, 824 Waukegan Road. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. with service to follow at 10:30. In lieu of donations, Ron would want friends to follow his lead - be kind to others and generous to those most in need.
