Dorothy Elliott, Church and Charitable Official, Dies

Longtime Deerfield resident was 93.

Dorothy Jean Fuller Elliott, a long-time resident of Deerfield dies Monday in Arlington Heights. She was 93.

Elliott was born June 11, 1920 in Evanston where she graduated of Evanston Township High School. She attended Mills College in Oakland before returning to Evanston where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Northwestern University and was a member of the Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity.

Elliott was a long-time member and former vestryperson of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church and a long-time member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She served both as President of the Deerfield Chapter and as the AAUW Treasurer for the State of Illinois.

She was the beloved wife for nearly 65 years of G. Thomas Elliott; loving mother of Jean Elliott (Jeff Weiner), Constance (John) Palermo, Scott (Cynthia Cheski) and Nancy (Christopher) Curtis; cherished grandmother of Chester and Faith Curtis; and dear aunt of Carol Brasmer Higgins and Craig Brasmer.

Elliott was predeceased by her parents, Alice M. Fuller, nee Kaiser, and William Green Fuller; step-father Isaac A. Smothers; sister Constance Fuller Brasmer; and brother-in-law William Brasmer.

A memorial service will be held at Oct. 12 at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church, 815 Wilmot Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church. For further information, please contact Kelly & Spalding Funeral Home.
