Funeral Arrangements Set for Shepard Employee

The community is mourning the loss of a teacher at who passed away on Saturday.

According to Principal Michael Shapiro, teacher Steven Tobin had been ill for some time but his death this weekend came as a “shock.” The Buffalo Grove resident was 48-years-old. 

Tobin had worked at Shepard for the past four years as an instructional assistant but also sponsored the ping pong club and was the assistant director of this year’s musical.

Services will be held at Chicago Jewish Funerals at 2 p.m. on Monday in Buffalo Grove.

School officials say extra social workers and counselors from other schools will also be on hand at Shepard to assist students with the grieving process.
