Jane Barber, Designer, Dies at 58

Chicago designer and Riverwoods resident was a Deerfield High School honor graduate.

Jane Elizabeth Barber, 58, of Riverwoods, died Tuesday after a long illness.

Barber was born on August 16, 1954 to Jean (nee Manning) and Robert Barber. She graduated with high honors from Deerfield High School in 1972 and in 1979, graduated magna cum laude from the Illinois Institute of Technology School of Design.

After graduating from college, she was founder and president of Jane Barber Design in Chicago. She did visual communication design work for IBM, Pepper Construction, Baxter and several cosmetic companies.

Barber is survived by her mother and her cousin, Bruce Barber. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at 11 am at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park.
