WARNING: REP. SCOTT DRURY, INCORRECT AGAIN!

Rep. Scott Drury, has stated on his facebook page that ..."As of Jan.1, 2014. people can carry loaded concealed weapons." This is simply not true, nobody has received a Conceal Carry License in the state. The ISP says that the first ones to be issued will probably go out in March. This incorrect statement could have serious consequences for a citizen that believes that they can now carry a loaded weapon. The Illinois State Police are still enforcing the AUUW / UUW Law and a person could face Felony charges. I ask all of you to consider some facts. Illinois now has one of the most restrictive CCW Laws in the nation. The Ban on Conceal Carry has been struck down by the Supreme Court, Federal Appeals Court and even the Illinois Supreme Court. The State of Illinois was actually found to be in Contempt of Court for failing to repeal the AUUW / UUW Law. The Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms outside of your home has been reaffirmed and it is the law of the land. Our government officials should be respecting our Constitutional Rights and not trying to find some way to infringe upon them. In my opinion, Rep.Scott Drury is a bureaucrat, the kind of bureaucrat that Thomas Jefferson warned us about. In my opinion, Rep. Scott Drury is pushing for businesses to post a "NO CONCEAL CARRY" sign. I am a supporter of the Second Amendment and conceal carry. It is our Constitutional Right to defend ourselves from violent attack. I welcome the day when a woman can escape her abusive Partner and be able to defend herself against a violent attack. I have three Daughters and all three will be getting their CCL as soon as they are old enough. I do not shop in stores that do not respect our Rights. Some people will simply unload their gun and put it in a case, then enter the store with the unloaded gun, transported legally in their pocket. That is a fact, that Rep. Scott Drury has not disclosed... Transportation of an unloaded firearm, that is in a case, container or box, is not effected by a sign in the window of a private business. Some people will store their gun in their car...where it can be stolen. The signs that Rep. Scott Drury wants businesses to put up, will be causing some people to be alarmed...as they see the gun is being unloaded by the gun owner in a car, to store it and later reloaded in a car. The fact that the gun will be handled, unloaded and reloaded. This raises the chances of a negligent discharge occuring, also a person being stalked, will be a defenseless victim, the moment they stow the weapon and enter the premises of which displays the "NO CONCEALED CARRY" sign. How will the business owner protect them? Will the business owner now be liable for not protecting them? I personally will never tell a law abidding citizen with a Conceal Carry License, that they must disarm themselves and be defenseles. Just like I would not ask a Policeman or Soldier to surrender their weapon. Illinois has some growing up to do, it will take a few years and the people of Illinois will know what everyone in 49 other states already knows... Conceal Carry is a good thing.
