911 Call Thwarts Home Invasion

Suspects demand money then flee Deerfield home when they learn residents dialed 911.

No one was harmed when three men invaded a home in the 700 block of Castlewood Lane Tuesday and fled when they learned one of the residents dialed 911, according to a news release from the Deerfield Police Department.

The offenders entered the door through an open overhead garage door and an unlocked entry door into the house. Once in, they demanded money but quickly left the house when they learned 911 was called, according to the release. The release did not indicate if a weapon was used.

Officers from Lincolnshire, Bannockburn, Riverwoods, Northbrook and Highland Park assisted Deerfield Police searching for the suspects. They have not yet been found. All three were described in their mid 20’s.

One suspect is approximately 5-8, according to the release. He was wearing a black knit cap; sunglasses with large frames and a neck scarf pulled up to partially cover his face and mouth.

A second suspect is described as white and between 5-6 and 5-9 with a buzz hair cut. He was wearing navy blue hospital scrubs, a surgical mask over his face which he pulled down across his throat, according to the release.

The third suspect is described as black and approximately 5-7 with a narrow face, according to the release. He either has short or no hair. He was wearing a black knit cap, beige or tan pants and a heavily used black leather jacket.

Police are encouraging residents to properly secure and lock all doors that allow access to a residence, according to the release.
