Bannockburn Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Two Drug Felonies

The following arrest information was supplied by the Bannockburn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Possession of Cannabis With Intent to Sell

Matthew Connolly, 22, of Libertyville was arrested Wednesday on two felony counts of possession of cannabis, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Bannockburn Police reports.

Acting on a message of a potential armed robbery suspect in the area, police stopped a car matching the description in the vicinity of Waukegan and Half Day Roads, according to the report. Though Connolly did not match the description of the armed robbery suspect, police smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

After Connolly agreed to a search of the vehicle, police found two glass jars and three plastic bags with a leafy substance which tested positive for cannabis, according to the report. There was also a digital scale.

After police discovered the cannabis, they also learned from Connolly he acquired the marijuana from a “friend” in Colorado, there was more at his home and he did sell some to friends, according to the report. Connolly permitted police to go to his home and retrieve the marijuana there.

At Connolly’s home, police found an additional seven jars of leafy substance which field tested positive for cannabis, according to the report. There was also additional drug paraphernalia.

Police then contacted the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office which approved charges of a Class 4 felony for possession of cannabis and a Class 3 felony for possession with intent to deliver, according to the report. Connolly was transported to the Lake County Jail for a bond hearing. If convicted, Connolly could cumulatively face between three and eight years in jail on the felonies.

Driving With Revoked License

Brandon Davis, 19, of Round Lake Beach was arrested Oct. 21 for driving with a revoked license and speeding, according to Bannockburn Police reports.

Police clocked Davis driving eastbound in Half Day Road at 54 miles per hour in a 40-mile per hour zone, according to the report. After stopping Davis, police learned his driver’s license had been revoked. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 6 in Park City.
