Update: Body Recovered from Des Plaines River in Riverwoods

A dive team has recovered a body from the Des Plaines River in Riverwoods. Police are investigating whether the victim could be missing Deerfield man Ronald Kite.

An unidentified white male was recovered from the DesPlaines River south of Deerfield Road, according to a news release from the Riverwoods Police Department.

The Lake County coroner is investigating.

Deerfield Police Chief John J. Sliozis told Patch his department is in contact with Riverwoods Police and are "investigating the possibility" that the victim retrieved from the Des Plaines River in Riverwoods Wednesday evening is that of missing Deerfield man Ronald Kite.

Kite, 69, was reported missing by his family on Monday, July 29. He was last seen at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday, July 28 in the Deerfield Post Office on Osterman Avenue, reported Patch.

A dive response team was called to 680 Thornmeadow in Riverwoods (Deerfield and the Chicago River) for the recovery of a body in the water shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, according to a dispatch alert.

The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District was called to the scene along with Riverwoods Police, who informed Patch a press release is forthcoming.
