Car Crash Investigation Turns Into Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Driver’s License Infractions 

Faviola Zaguilan, 24, of Highland Park was arrested Feb. 25 for driving without a valid driver’s license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating a vehicle without insurance, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

After police were called to 50 Waukegan Road to investigate a crash between two vehicles, it was discovered Zaguilan had no driver’s license and was placed under arrest, according to the report. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. March 19 in Park City.

Carlos Antonio Martinez, 21, of Chicago was arrested Feb. 25 for driving without a valid license, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with only one headlight illuminated, making an improper turn and failure to signal when required, according to Deerfield Police reports

After police observed Martinez changing lanes without signaling and turning without a proper signal, he was topped in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Waukegan Roads, according to the report.

In the course of the investigation, police learned he did not have a valid driver’s license and an investigation revealed a “grinder with green plant material with the strong odor of cannabis.” He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. March 19 in Park City.

Bicycle Theft 

A bicycle was reported stolen between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday in downtown Deerfield, according to Deerfield Police reports. The bicycle was locked, according to the owner, and when he returned from work at 3 p.m. it was gone along with the lock and chain.
