Cell Phone Use Leads to Arrest

William Kelleher, 56, of Wayne was arrested August 9 for driving with a suspended license and using a hand held cell phone while driving, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police observed Kelleher holding a cell phone to his ear and talking near the intersection of Osterman Avenue and Waukegan Road. After making the stop, police learned his license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 3 in Park City. 

Osiel Herrera-Ortiz, 37, of Chicago was arrested for driving without a valid license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to Deerfield Police reports. After being called to the intersection of Lake Cook and Deer Lake Roads to investigate a crash, police learned Herrera-Ortiz’s license was suspended. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 in Park City.

Tirana Bennette, 22, of Waukegan was arrested August 13 for driving while license suspended and a faulty license plate light, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police stopped Bennette when it was observed the light over her rear license plate was not illuminated. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. Sept. 3 in Park City.
