Citizen Call Leads to Marijuana Arrest

The following arrest information was supplied by the Deerfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Possession of Marijuana 

Mitchell Silverman, 18, of Deerfield was arrested for unlawful possession of cannabis Feb. 16, according to Deerfield Police reports. 

Police received a call from a resident about a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of Hackberry Road and Willow Avenue locating the car fitting the description, according to the report. After a conversation, Silverman, a back seat passenger, admitted to having marijuana. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. March 19.

DUI 

Anatol Varabei, 26, of Skokie was arrested Feb. 15 for driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a traffic control device, according to Deerfield Police reports

Police were immediately behind Varabei driving southbound on Waukegan Road when he failed to stop before making a right turn onto Lake Cook Road, according to the report. After making the turn Varabei drifted to the right and crossed a broken white line. 

After police stopped him, Varabei failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. His blood alcohol level was .142. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. March 6 in Waukegan. 

Driver’s License Infractions 

Loran Lohan, 20, of Wheeling was arrested Feb. 21 for driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police stopped Lohan after a random check showed her license was suspended. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. April 16 in Park City. 

Jamie Esquival-Andrade, 21, of Chicago was arrested Feb. 21 for driving without a valid license and speeding, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police clocked Esquival-Andrade driving 55 miles per hour in a 40-mile per hour zone in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Ellendale Roads. After the stop, police discovered she did not have a license. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3 p.m. April 2 in Park City.
